Carter Presents Carnegie Hero Medal to Allen Sirois of Salado

Representative John Carter (TX-31) presented the Carnegie Hero Medal to Allen Sirois, a Salado native, last week. On May 26, 2018, Allen was working in Belton when he heard a crash and saw an overturned concrete truck in flames off I-35. Sirois quickly ran to the truck with a fire extinguisher, but when it did little to combat the flames, he entered the cab of the truck and pulled the driver, Melvin Belcher, to safety.

Carter Secures Victories for Central Texas in Funding Package

Today, Congressman John Carter (TX-31) released the follow statement after the House passed both FY20 Consolidated Appropriations bills. These bills provide substantial investments for Ft. Hood, provide a pay raise for soldiers, prioritize national security, direct resources to school safety and support veterans.

Carter "Better Military Housing Act" Included in NDAA

Representative John Carter (TX-31) fought and secured language dealing with privatized military housing in the FY20 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA). The language sets in motion improvements to the conditions of military housing and increases protection of servicemembers and their families that live in military housing.
