Representative John Carter (TX-31) released the following statement after the U.S. Senate’s vote to Acquit President Trump on impeachment.

“With the vote to acquit President Trump, the U.S. Senate has written the last scene of the Democratic Party's political theater. Impeachment is one of the most serious acts that Congress will consider, and it is shameful that it's been weaponized for political gain. After incessantly telling the American people that there was ‘overwhelming evidence’ to justify impeachment, the House Democrats failed to provide any evidence of treason, bribery, high crimes or misdemeanors. I hope the acquittal ends the unnecessary political grandstanding. It's time that the Democrats use this as a turning point to start focusing on the issues important to Americans.”
