Representative John Carter (TX-31) released the following statement on the Paycheck Protection Program and Health Care Enhancement Act.
Representative John Carter (TX-31) released the following statement on the Paycheck Protection Program and Health Care Enhancement Act. “The Coronavirus pandemic has pulled the rug out from under many Americans. Suddenly, millions are facing unemployment and countless businesses are facing unprecedented economic challenges. During these uncertain times, I want to assure Central Texans that more relief is coming. With this fourth Coronavirus response package, we have worked to secure an additional $310 billion for the Paycheck Protection Program, and $60 billion for Economic Injury Disaster Loans, to help more small businesses survive and continue to pay their employees. More than two weeks ago, I called for additional funding for the Paycheck Protection Program, which has provided more than 1.6 million loans to small businesses across the country. While political stunts delayed this much-needed funding, I’m confident that with today’s passage, small businesses will see more relief. “We also know that in order to responsibly reopen, we need data. This legislation provides $25 billion to ramp up testing so state and local decision makers have the critical information necessary to reopen safely. Finally, $75 billion in additional funds will help hospitals and health care workers on the front lines continue to take care of those that are battling this horrible virus. I’m glad to see this legislation pass with broad bipartisan support.” ### |
