(Round Rock, TX) - Representative John Carter (TX-31) and Round Rock Mayor Craig Morgan announced $1 million in federal funding secured by Congressman Carter for the City of Round Rock’s Crisis Response Unit. This funding was part of Representative Carter’s community project funding requests in the fiscal year 2022 appropriations bill.
“The City of Round Rock currently encounters about two-thousand mental health related calls each year. This funding will provide Round Rock with the resources it needs to maintain the Crisis Response Unit made up of behavioral health specialists and paramedics who act as mental health first responders,” said Representative John Carter. “This project promotes the treatment of mental health and keeps local law enforcement focused on responding to criminal acts. I want to thank Mayor Morgan and the city for their partnership throughout this process, and I’m pleased to see this investment back here in Texas’ 31st district.”
“Our Crisis Response Unit has already responded to hundreds of calls for service to help those with behavioral health issues in times of crisis,” said Mayor Morgan. “Their presence and ability to connect people with the resources they need allows local law enforcement, fire department and emergency medical services to provide more efficient and effective public safety services to our community overall. We are grateful for Rep. Carter’s dedication to improving the quality of life for all of our citizens through this innovative program.”
