Rep. Carter (TX-31) voted in favor of, and the House of Representatives passed, legislation containing $15.25 billion in emergency funding to provide immediate response and recovery for Hurricane Harvey-ravaged communities. The legislation will now be sent to the President for his signature.

Rep. Carter released the following statement regarding the passage of the legislation:

“As the chairman responsible for FEMA funding, securing disaster relief to support my fellow Texans recovering from Hurricane Harvey has been my top priority.  Today we passed important legislation to fund over $15 billion in critical assistance to our Texan communities in need, including my hometown of Houston. I have worked tirelessly with my colleagues to ensure our fellow Texans receive the assistance, resources, and funding necessary to rebuild after Hurricane Harvey.  I am proud of the first responders, volunteers, and individuals showing hospitality and heroism to support our neighbors in need. This is what Texans do - we come together to support one another. I am sure we’ll continue to work together as we rebuild after Harvey, and in the face of anything that comes our way. May God Bless Texas.”

Rep. Carter represents Texas District 31, which includes Fort Hood, the largest active duty armored military installation in the free world. He serves as Chairman of the Homeland Security Subcommittee on Appropriations, co-chairman of the Congressional Army Caucus, is on the Subcommittee for Commerce, Justice and Science and the Defense Appropriations Subcommittee.
