Carter, Texas Delegation Unveil Border Security Plan Ahead of Republican Takeover of the House

Representative John Carter (TX-31) joined the Texas Delegation in unveiling a comprehensive border security strategy ahead of Republicans taking the majority in the House. The plan, a culmination of several pieces of legislation developed from members of the Texas delegation, will complete physical infrastructure, improve border enforcement, end asylum loopholes, and target cartels. Representative Carter's Updated Standards for Asylum (USA) Act, which would punish fraudulent asylum claims with a fine and up to 10 years of prison, is included in the plan.

"We wouldn’t be here if it weren’t for the complete dereliction of duty by President Joe Biden," said Carter. "From the moment he took office, he destroyed commonsense policies that helped secure our border and instead opted for absolute chaos. Texans unfortunately know first-hand how damaging President Biden has been to law and order at the border. Our constituents have had to bear the brunt of it. The Texas Delegation has come together and created a plan that will right the wrongs of President Biden."
