ROUND ROCK, T.X.-  Congressman John Carter, one of seven House members working on a comprehensive immigration bill, is releasing this statement in response to the passage of the Senate’s comprehensive immigration bill Thursday.

“The Senate legislation is dead on arrival in the House of Representatives. I will continue to work with my House colleagues to strengthen our border first, enforce the Rule of Law with compassion, support a system that ensures our employers can verify temporary working status, and recruit the immigrants we need to boost our economy. The system must encourage immigrants to enter our country legally and punish those who don’t.”

Rep. Carter is Chairman of the Homeland Security Appropriations Subcommittee, Vice-Chairman of the Military Construction and Veterans Affairs Appropriations Subcommittee and Co-Chairman of the House Army Caucus.
