Carter, Texas Delegation Request Reversal of FEMA Decision to Deny Federal Disaster Status for Hermine Damage Congressman John Carter and eight other members of the Texas delegation formally requested that President Barack Obama overturn the FEMA denial of federal disaster status for Texas counties devastated by Tropical Storm Hermine in September. "We are hopeful that the President will recognize that the 13 counties impacted by the heavy flooding and winds are in need of and fully deserve federal disaster area status," says Carter. "In addition to heavy losses by private property owners, our district especially suffered extensive damage to our public infrastructure that we believe has more than met the standard for federal assistance. We urge the President to overrule the FEMA decision immediately." |
