Under budget reconciliation, the bill will reduce the deficit by a net $78.9 billion by repealing a number of provisions and employer mandates in Obamacare, repealing the federal excise tax on medical devices and certain employer-provided health coverage plans, and by defunding Planned Parenthood. “The American people have long been promised that this house will end the burden that Obamacare has put on hardworking Americans. I have voted more than 50 times to repeal Obamacare and I once again casted my vote to dismantle this illogical healthcare law. Today, we forged a new path through the reconciliation process, the very same process that was distorted by the Democrats to take over our healthcare system.” “This reconciliation package will also defund Planned Parenthood and reallocate those taxpayer dollars to community healthcare centers where women receive the same health services while ensuring babies aren’t sold to the highest bidder.” “Rather than having Washington bureaucrats make decisions for Americans, we need to restore the doctor patient relationship and leave the decision making in the hands of doctors, patients, and families. Americans deserve quality healthcare at affordable prices but Obamacare does the opposite. Now that the House has passed this bill to repeal the broken promises of Obamacare, the President will be forced to decide whether he will continue to enforce this harmful policy or listen to the will of the American people.” Rep. Carter represents Texas District 31, which includes Fort Hood, the largest military installation in the free world. He serves as Chairman of the Homeland Security Subcommittee on Appropriations, is on the Subcommittee for Commerce, Justice and Science and the Defense Appropriations Subcommittee. ### |
