Congressman John Carter (R-TX31) joined 112 Members of Congress and 26 States, including Texas, to file an amicus brief in the U.S. Court of Appeals in the Fifth Circuit to defend the preliminary injunction against President Obama’s executive amnesty order. Congressman John Carter released the following statement regarding the Amicus Brief in Texas et al v. United States, which challenges the legality of the president’s unilateral actions: “President Obama’s executive amnesty action exceeds his constitutional authority and disrupts the delicate balance of powers. The amicus brief is in support of the injunction challenging the constitutionality of President Obama’s unilateral executive amnesty order. The February ruling of the U.S. District Court that halts the implementation of President Obama’s unconstitutional actions should not be ignored and these lawless actions will not be tolerated. I have confidence in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit to overturn the president’s illegal actions and to stand firm on the basis of our Constitution.” |
