Chairman Carter champions solutions to the border crisis
Congressman John Carter (R-TX31) is at the forefront of solving our nation’s crisis on the Southern Border. After introducing legislation last week to address the influx of illegal immigrant minors, Rep. Carter joined Congresswoman Kay Granger (R-TX12) and the House working group in releasing a number of common sense solutions to further stop the flow. Today, Rep. Carter also joined the Texas Republican Delegation in sending a letter to President Obama asking him to enforce current immigration law and take action within his current authority to address the crisis on the Southern Border. “The House has proposed numerous solutions to the President and Senate on how to solve the crisis at our border, what have Democrats proposed? More of the same – more reckless spending without a plan or solution. This is not a problem we can solve by throwing good money after bad; more of the same is not the answer,” said Congressman John Carter, Chairman of the Appropriations Subcommittee on Homeland Security. “We have to close the loopholes in the 2008 trafficking law that are being abused and we must secure our border. Until we do that, children will continue to be trafficked and abused by smuggling cartels, all while we put billions of dollars on the American Taxpayers’ credit card.” “Texans take action. That is what our Governor has done, that is what the Texas Delegation is doing, and that’s what our Texas Senators are doing. I implore the President to follow Texas’ lead and take action rather than rely on political grandstanding to solve the crisis at our border,” said Congressman Carter.
