Congressman Carter leads Texas Delegation letter to the President demanding enforcement of immigration laws
Chairman Carter released the following statement in regards to the letter he sent with fellow Texas House members to the President, Friday, June 27, demanding him to enforce our nation’s immigration laws: “Lawlessness breeds lawlessness. The cartels are in our backyard smuggling children across the border in skyrocketing numbers. They are straining our resources in the Rio Grande Valley border region and tying up our law enforcement agents in the process. This leaves fewer resources to combat smugglers on the border trafficking drugs and other illegal cargo. These children and families are being lured into this smuggling chain by false promises of hope brought about because the Obama Administration has declared they will not enforce our laws and is sending the message through inaction that if you can get here young enough or stay here long enough there will be no consequences. Actions speak louder than words. The result of the lack of enforcement has created a nightmare at our border and it must end now.” The letter was led by Chairman John Carter (R-TX31) and co-signed by 22 member of the Texas Delegation. |
