Congressman John Carter (TX-31) today announced the opening of the nomination period for the 3rd Annual Congressional Achievement Award for Outstanding Career and Technical Education Students in Texas' 31st Congressional District. Career and technical education programs allow students to practice important trade skills to prepare them for the workforce or higher education.

Carter Announces Funding for Five Additional Barrack Renovations at Ft. Hood

Today, Congressman John Carter (TX-31) announced $61 million in funding to renovate five additional barracks at Ft. Hood. These barracks are rated at Q4, the lowest possible quality rating. Last month, Congressman Carter toured barracks that were under renovation with Chairman Mac Thornberry of the Armed Services Committee, and stressed the importance of authorizing and funding barracks renovations, as well as motorpool and hangar construction.

Carter Pledges Support for Bill that Will Ensure Social Security Fairness for Teachers, Firefighters, and Police Officers

Congressman John Carter (TX-31) has pledged his support for Congressman Kevin Brady's Equal Treatment of Public Servants Act by cosponsoring the legislation. This bill will eliminate Social Security's Windfall Elimination Provision (WEP) and replace it with a new formula that ensures teachers, firefighters police officers, and other public servants receive Social Security benefits based on work history.
