Congressman John Carter released the following statement after President Donald Trump signed a continuing resolution to reopen the government for ongoing negotiations. “I’m glad to see this shutdown end and federal employees be paid. I know it’s been very difficult for those who have worked without receiving a paycheck throughout this shutdown. Now that the government is reopened, I hope that Speaker Pelosi will negotiate in good faith to address the very serious situation on the border. The American people expect the federal government to address border security, and I hope this conference can come to an agreement by February 15th.” Rep. Carter represents Texas District 31, which includes Fort Hood, the largest active duty armored military installation in the free world. He serves as co-chairman of the Congressional Army Caucus and Ranking Member of the Military Construction and Veterans Affairs Subcommittee on Appropriations. # # # |
