Army Day on Capitol Hill demonstrates latest technology and equipment for soldiers

Congressman John Carter joined soldiers in the United States Army for Army Day on Capitol Hill. Hosted by the U.S. Army and the Congressional Army Caucus, the day-long event highlights soldier equipment and technology as well as demonstrates some of the advancements in the Army’s current medical research. Congressman Carter, Chairman of the Homeland Security Appropriations Subcommittee, was able to try on and use the latest soldier body armor and equipment and, including night vision and thermal sights. He also interacted with the Army’s state-of-the-art equipment. “The men and women who wear that Army uniform are often on the front lines, defending this great nation. They deserve the best equipment and training that is out there. It was reassuring to see the latest equipment and tools our soldiers are working with while also learning what we in Congress can do to ensure they have the skills and tools they need,” said Chairman Carter. Army Day on Capitol Hill also enable participants to test their shooting skills at the US Capitol Police shooting range. Participants were able to fire 10 bullets from an M9, with and without a laser sighting device, enable them to see how technology improves a soldier’s safety and success on the battle field. |
