Washington, Apr 26, 2005 -

Today, U.S. Representative John R. Carter (TX-31) announced that Jonas Miller will be the next District Director.  After being with Carter since January 2003, Travis Lucas is leaving to start his own law practice.

“Travis has been a very productive district director and will be sorely missed,” said Carter. “He has been with me from the beginning and has laid the foundation for effective district operations that put constituents first.”

Before joining Carter in 2003, Lucas worked for the Texas Attorney General’s office, which was then held by Senator John Cornyn. Lucas will open his law practice in Round Rock and will serve his last official day May 3rd

“I wish Travis great success in his new law practice.”  Carter continued by saying, “He is a good lawyer and will serve his clients very effectively.  I will miss him in the office but we will continue our warm relationship in his new capacity as a practicing attorney.”

Currently, Miller is the Deputy District Director.  Miller will oversee all district operations, and will travel the district, handle constituent projects and represent Carter in all counties within the district.  As a longtime citizen of Round Rock, Miller has been an active public servant and has worked in the banking sector.

“Jonas has traveled the counties of this district as a high school athlete and made his mark in the playing fields of Central Texas and will now travel the district to serve constituents and fans alike.”  Carter also said, “Jonas has made a nice addition to my office and I know he will work hard to help meet the needs of the constituents of the district.”
