Carter Votes for Fiscal Responsibility, Against Continued Funding for Planned Parenthood

(WASHINGTON, DC) – Today, Rep. John R. Carter (R-TX-31), voted against the Continuing Resolution that will fund the Federal government through December 11, 2015.

Today, Rep. John R. Carter (R-TX-31), voted against the Continuing Resolution that will fund the Federal government through December 11, 2015.

“I am tired of our government relying on short term, inefficient funding bills. In my Homeland Security Appropriations committee we passed a true appropriations bill that would defund sanctuary cities, deport criminal illegal aliens, and direct funds to secure our border. It is time that we stop these quick fix funding mechanisms and get back to doing the job Congress is mandated to do, pass appropriations to fund our government. The House has passed full appropriations bills, and the Senate Democrats should allow these bills a vote.”

“I could not in good conscience vote for a funding bill that will continue to provide tax-payer dollars to Planned Parenthood. It is time we work through the legislative process to ensure that in future appropriations no federal funds will be sent to Planned Parenthood.”

Rep. Carter represents Texas District 31, which includes Fort Hood, the largest military installation in the free world. He serves as Chairman of the Homeland Security Subcommittee on Appropriations, is on the Subcommittee for Commerce, Justice and Science and the Defense Appropriations Subcommittee.
