Rep. Carter urges Senate to pass his DHS funding bill to stop the President's amnesty
The time is now. The President’s overreaching amnesty must be stopped and Congressman John Carter (R-TX31), Chairman of the Homeland Security Appropriations Subcommittee, is calling on the conservative Senate to pass legislation to halt the President’s amnesty plan. Two weeks ago, the House of Representatives passed Rep. Carter’s Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Appropriations bill which included language that would prohibit the President from using DHS funds to implement his amnesty executive action. “The House of Representatives has taken action, stepping up to the fight and taking the first swing. Now it is time for my conservative colleagues in the Senate to continue that fight by passing the DHS Appropriations bill and sending it on to the President. The American people have spoken and do not want his executive amnesty. Will he choose to play politics with our homeland security to protect his executive amnesty,” said Rep. Carter. The Senate is charged with passing the DHS Appropriations bill this week which provides $39.7 billion in discretionary funding for DHS to keep Americans safe. It also includes language which prohibits DHS from implementing the President’s overreaching amnesty. Highlights of Rep. Carter’s DHS Appropriations Bill: Customs and Border Protection (CBP)
