Congressman John Carter (TX-31) voted for, and the House passed, the Fiscal Year 2018 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA). The FY18 NDAA authorizes $699.6 billion to increase readiness, rebuild our military, and fully fund a 2.4% pay increase for our troops. Congressman Carter led the charge to include higher funding levels to accelerate upgrades to current Ground Combat Vehicles. He also included language to compel the Army to create a plan for the future of Ground Combat Vehicles.

Carter's Veterans Transplant Coverage Act Passes House

Today, the House passed Congressman John Carter's (TX-31) Veterans Transplant Coverage Act of 2017. Under current law, the Department of Veterans Affairs can deny life-saving transplant coverage to a veteran if the organ donor is a non-veteran. Congressman Carter's bipartisan legislation changes the VA's policy to ensure that no other American hero is denied transplant coverage again.

Congressman John Carter (TX-31) testified in front of the House Committee on Veterans Affairs today about his bill, H.R. 1133, the Veterans Transplant Coverage Act of 2017. This legislation enables the Department of Veterans Affairs to provide transplants for veterans, even if the live donor is a non-veteran, at the facility of their choice.
