Carter Votes to Improve Care for Veterans

Congressman Carter released the following statement after the House passed the Enhancing Veteran Care Act.

Congressman Carter released the following statement after the House passed the Enhancing Veteran Care Act.

“Our veterans have sacrificed for our country and they deserve the very best care from the VA, but as we’ve seen time and time again, the VA system still needs significant reforms to ensure our American heroes are receiving the care they deserve. Unfortunately, the investigation and reform process can be slow moving, which can mean life or death for some veterans. The Enhancing Veteran Care Act will speed up the reform process by allowing the VA Secretary to partner with nonprofits that accredit health care organizations to investigate issues at the VA. The faster investigations into VA medical centers are concluded, the faster changes can be implemented, and the quicker our veterans can receive the care they deserve.”

Rep. Carter represents Texas District 31, which includes Fort Hood, the largest active duty armored military installation in the free world. He serves as Chairman of the Homeland Security Subcommittee on Appropriations, co-chairman of the Congressional Army Caucus, is on the Subcommittee for Commerce, Justice and Science and the Defense Appropriations Subcommittee.
