LTC Allen West, Congressman John Carter (R-TX31) and Congressman Bill Flores (R-TX17) hosted a press conference this morning on the issues and legislation regarding the November 5, 2009 Fort Hood Shooting. After the radical jihadist Nidal Hasan opened fire on Fort Hood and killed 13 adults and one unborn child, Congressman Carter has been fighting tirelessly to help the victims and overturn the Obama Administration's classification of the attack as workplace violence.

Fort Hood Shooting Victims to Receive Purple Hearts in House NDAA

Victims and families of the 2009 Fort Hood shooting could soon receive Purple Hearts, benefits and closure thanks to language entered in the House's National Defense Authorization Act late last night. During the House Armed Services Committee's markup of the FY15 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), Congressman Michael Conaway (R-TX11) offered the amendment on behalf of Congressman John Carter (R-TX31) and Congressman Roger Williams (R-TX25). The Committee adopted the amendment unanimously by voice vote showing strong bipartisan support.

The President's policies create law enforcement nightmares

Level 1 criminal illegal immigrants are being released on the streets due to President Obama's policy on immigration and border enforcement. The news of these releases was verified March 13 by Executive Associate Director of Immigration and Customs Enforcement Thomas Homan at an Appropriations Subcommittee hearing on ICE's budget. Upon questioning of the issue by Chairman Carter, Homan responded by saying "It's gotten to the point where it's a community safety issue because level ones and twos are walking out of jails without attention from ICE, so it is a concern of ours. We need some changes."
