Carter Votes to Reject Waters of the US

(WASHINGTON, DC)– Today, Rep. John R. Carter voted to reject President Obama’s “Waters of the United States” definition under the Federal Water Pollution Control Act.  SJR 22 has now passed both the House and the Senate and will be sent to the President for signature or veto.

“President Obama and his EPA grossly overreached when they redefined the ‘waters of the United States’ this summer. The rule significantly expands the scope of federal jurisdiction under the Clean Water Act and undermines State authorities over waterways. I suspect the President will veto this very important rejection of agency overreach that is detrimental to many land owners, businesses, and farmers. The President should listen to the people, instead of Washington bureaucrats, and sign this rejection of the EPA.  Texans should control Texas water!”
