American Conservative Union Recognizes Carter Votes

U.S. Representative John Carter (R-TX) was presented with the ACU Conservative Award today in Washington, for achieving a solid conservative voting record in the House.

"This award is a reflection of Representative John Carter’s consistent support of conservative principles on a wide range of issues of concern to grass roots conservatives in 2009," said American Conservative Union Chairman David A. Keane. "At a challenging time when the fundamental principles on which the American system of government are being challenged, Representative John Carter stands with those who are trying to preserve those principles."

Carter said he was honored and pleased to accept the award, as it helps constituents know the basic philosophical leanings of House Members. "Most folks at home don’t have time to check every one of the hundreds of votes held in the House each year to keep up with whether their representative is voting the way they should. This award really helps relay how we have been voting across-the-board. ACU is doing a valuable public service in making this information readily available to the public."

The ACU Award is presented to Members of Congress who achieve a minimum 80% rating on key votes scored by the organization.
