Statement by Rep. John R. Carter (R-TX-31) on the decision by the Administration that Fort Hood is no longer on the list of possible temporary shelter locations for illegal immigrant minors. “After many discussions with DHS and the Administration, I am happy to announce that Fort Hood is no longer determined appropriate for use as a temporary shelter for illegal minors at this time. As I have repeated, Fort Hood’s core mission—the defense of our nation- must not be jeopardized by the fallout from this president’s failed immigration policies. Fort Hood is no place to house illegal immigrants, and today’s announcement is great news for our military, for our Texas National Guard, and for the entireFort Hood community.” ### |
