(ROUND ROCK, TX) – Rep. John Carter (R-TX-31) today received the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Spirit of Enterprise award. This award is given annually to members of Congress based on rankings it gives for key business votes outlined in its yearly publication How They Voted. Rep. Carter has received this award every year since taking office in 2003. “Texas is fortunate to have a strong economy, due primarily to its pro-business leadership. In Texas, we believe in the free-market system, and encouraging job creation and economic growth through low taxes and limited regulations. I am proud to accept this honor, as I work every day to bring more of Texas to Washington, and keep Washington out of Texas. In order to keep our economy growing, and increase job creation, we must put a stop to Federal government overreach, and unreasonable regulations that stymie growth, hurt businesses and damage our economy.” Rep. Carter represents Texas District 31, which includes Fort Hood, the largest military installation in the free world. He serves as Chairman of the Homeland Security Subcommittee on Appropriations, is on the Subcommittee for Commerce, Justice and Science and the Defense Appropriations Subcommittee. ### |
