U.S. Representative John Carter (R-TX31) is releasing the following statement after Tuesday’s congressional hearing in which Secret Service Director Joseph Clancy testified about the agency’s recent security lapses as well as the agency’s 2016 budget request. “The lack of good judgment and professional behavior by some in the Secret Service is disconcerting to everyone in America. It adds more tarnish to an organization whose reputation is already seriously in doubt. It creates a perception of tolerance for out-of-control behavior and the appearance of a cover-up. I have great respect for Director Joseph Clancy. But in today’s hearing, I expressed concern that the Service is plagued by a culture that tolerates hard drinking and partying. It’s time to clean house and I am confident Director Clancy will get the job done as soon as possible.” Rep. Carter serves as Chairman of the Homeland Security Appropriations Subcommittee. ####
