(Washington, DC) – Today, Rep. John R. Carter (R-TX-31) announced six students from Texas District 31 have been accepted to attend the Congress of Future Scientists and Technologists in Lowell, Massachusetts from July 29 to July 1, 2016. The following students have been chosen from Central Texas: Jaleah Heggs, Cedar Park; Kember Campbell, Leander; Patrick Gehlbach, Georgetown; Sean Miller, Round Rock; John Hudec, Temple; Samuel Coleman, Temple.

Senators Join Carter's Call to Tighten Immigration Law

(WASHINGTON D.C.) – Today, Senators Jeff Sessions (R-AL) and Ron Johnson (R-WI) joined Representative John R. Carter (R-TX-31) in his fight to close a loophole in the current law regarding unaccompanied minors entering the U.S. illegally by filing companion legislation in the Senate. The Protection of Children Act of 2015 (H.R. 1149/S. 2561) will ensure all unaccompanied children who enter the U.S. illegally are processed and safely returned to their home country as soon as possible. Under the current law, Central American children entering the U.S. illegally end up trapped in government red tape instead of being processed by U.S. Customs and returned safely to their home country.

Carter to offer Bill to Combat Active Shooter Threat

(ROUND ROCK, TX) – Today, Rep. John R. Carter (R-TX-31) announced legislation that will expand the available uses of Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS) grants. The "Protecting Our Lives by Initiating COPS Expansion Act of 2016 (the POLICE Act)" will provide the Department of Justice with greater flexibility in funding Active Shooter Response Training. Essentially, the legislation will add Active Shooter training to the list of activities for which COPS grants can be awarded.

Carter (R-TX-31) introduced the Resist Executive Amnesty on Defense Installations (READI) Act which will prohibit any illegal alien from being housed on our military installations. The Obama Administration is planning to force several military bases to house illegal immigrant minors rather than face the facts and reverse the President's misguided and broken immigration policies. This bill will ensure no military installation will be required to house any illegal immigrant.
