Economy and Tax Reform

I firmly believe that conservative tax policies will drive economic success. We must focus on policies that will strengthen the middle class and grow small businesses.

I proudly supported the Tax Cut and Jobs Act (TCJA), which reduced tax rates for most Americans. The TCJA keeps more money in Central Texans' wallets and ushered in the most robust economy in decades.

In this recent Congress, I have co-sponsored several bills to strengthen our tax code and return conservative Texas values into our tax code.

  • H.R.1043 – The Employer Participation in Repayment Act of 2019 will expand tax exclusion for employers who provide tuition assistance to include payments of student loans by the employer.
  • H.R.1349 – The Small Business Tax Fairness and Compliance Simplification Act expands the tax-credit portion of the employer-paid Social Security taxes for cash tips paid to employees to include the beauty service industry.
  • H.R.25 – The FairTax Act of 2019 will impose a national sales tax of 23% in 2021, in lieu of the current income, payroll, estate, and gift tax. The bill will also give lawful U.S. citizens a monthly sales tax rebate (Family Consumption Allowance) that will be allocated based on family size and poverty guidelines.

I assure you that I will continue to push for common-sense legislation that keeps more money in your pocket.
