Carter Pledges Support for the ME TOO Congress Act

Congressman John Carter (TX-31) cosponsored H.R. 4396, the Member and Employee Training and Oversight on Congress Act of 2017 (ME TOO Congress Act).

Congressman John Carter (TX-31) cosponsored H.R. 4396, the Member and Employee Training and Oversight on Congress Act of 2017 (ME TOO Congress Act).

“With the recent allegations of misconduct, it’s painfully obvious that Congress needs serious reforms,” Congressman Carter said. “Any Member that abuses their power is inexcusable, and the secret use of taxpayer dollars to settle these cases is indefensible. The ME TOO Congress Act introduces transparency into the process, and empowers individuals to come forward by putting reforms in place to end undue burdens on victims. Every woman and man in America should be able to work in a safe and respectful environment, and Congress should lead by example.”

Rep. Carter represents Texas District 31, which includes Fort Hood, the largest active duty armored military installation in the free world. He serves as Chairman of the Homeland Security Subcommittee on Appropriations, co-chairman of the Congressional Army Caucus, is on the Subcommittee for Commerce, Justice and Science and the Defense Appropriations Subcommittee.
