Today, Rep. John R. Carter (R-TX-31) voted in support of the Republican nominee for the Speaker of the House, Paul Ryan. Following is Rep. Carter’s statement on today’s actions.

“As a conservative Republican, today I voted in support of the Republican nominee Paul Ryan. When faced with choosing between a conservative Republican nominee or a liberal Democratic nominee, I will vote for the conservative Republican every time. Rep. Ryan is a friend of mine, a strong Christian conservative, and someone that can help to bring positive change to the House.”

“I look forward to working with the new Speaker and pushing constitutionally based conservative initiatives in the House. It is time for us to come together, and unify our party to defeat the Democrats’ liberal policies. In order to get our country moving in the right direction, we must stand strong as Republicans, debate our differences, but come back together to fend off President Obama’s agenda.”

“In the House, we have done our jobs. We have repealed Obamacare, defunded Planned Parenthood, defunded Sanctuary Cities, and helped to strengthen our national security. The Senate needs to do their job and force Obama to sign or veto these pro-American policies.”
