What More Proof Do You Need Mr. President?

Fort Hood shooter's request to join ISIS should spur action for victims by Obama Administration

(ROUND ROCK, T.X.) - Nidal Hasan is a terrorist and the mass shooting on Fort Hood in 2009 was an act of terror. Congressman John R. Carter (R-TX31) today says a letter written by the former Army psychiatrist who was convicted of killing 14 people on Fort Hood reinforces the fact that he was acting as a terrorist. In the letter, Hasan asks to become a citizen of the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria, known as ISIS.

“How much more proof does this President need? This was an act of terror and Hasan is a terrorist. He admitted to being a terrorist in his court martial. Now, he is asking to join ISIS, a terrorist organization that may be the most dangerous terrorist organization the world has ever seen,” said Congressman Carter. “If this letter sent to ISIS by Hasan does not spur this President to take immediate action and label the 2009 attack on Fort Hood a terrorist attack, then I don’t know what will. He has failed these victims. He is failing the nation.”

Rep. Carter represents Fort Hood and has been fighting since the attack to award the victims of the shooting the Purple Heart, which would entitle them to benefits they need and deserve. President Obama and his Administration have failed to label the attack appropriately as an a act of terrorism, rather giving it the title of “workplace violence” which denies the victims the Purple Heart and subsequent benefits.
