The President's Amnesia
Washington, DC,
October 3, 2013
Does the President have short-term memory loss? The President of the United States is threatening to veto critical legislation to provide benefits to our veterans. Congressman John Carter (R-TX31) and his Republican House colleagues are fighting for veterans after the President has publicly stated he will not support funding for veterans. Today the House of Representatives passed legislation, Honoring Our Promise to America's Veterans, which would ensure veterans continue receiving their benefits during the government shutdown. "Has the President lost his memory? He said he would help and support our veterans but now is stating he will veto any legislation that comes to his desk that would support them," said Congressman Carter. "The President and his Senate Democrats need to put their politics aside and start working for our country. Our veterans and their families need and deserve their benefits. This administration needs step up to the plate and not only pass this legislation to take care of our vets, but they need to come to the table for an open discussion on how to fund this government in a fiscally responsible manner. The President may have forgotten our veterans and their sacrifices, but I have not." |
