Rep. Carter presents certificates to local teen rocket developers, world title holders

Congressman John Carter presented congressional certificates to three Georgetown teens today for winning the World Title in the National Team America Rocket Challenge.

ROUND ROCK, T.X.- Central Texans are world leaders! Congressman John Carter presented congressional certificates to three Georgetown teens today for winning the World Title in the National Team America Rocket Challenge. Matthew Janecka, Mark Janecka and Daniel Kelton received the awards at Congressman Carter’s Round Rock office on Monday, August 26.

The three teens won against hundreds of other teams in the U.S. and internationally with their model rocket, winning the world title in Paris, France. The challenge was to build a model rocket that would carry a raw egg without breaking it. The team’s rocket reached 703 feet with the egg still intact.

The teens brought their rocket to show Congressman Carter, explaining how they made it and about their winning trip to Paris.

“I was truly honored to meet these young men. When they won the world title in Paris, I bragged to other members of Congress in Washington D.C. that students in my district won a world title! It’s inspiring to see our Central Texas youth are world leaders. I’m proud of Matthew, Mark and Daniel,” said Congressman John Carter.
