(KILLEEN, TX) – Congressman John Carter will realize a nearly decade-long quest brought to completion Thursday at the grand opening of Texas A&M University-Central Texas Founder’s Hall, and groundbreaking for the new university’s second building.

Carter began working on the project to open a new university at the site in 2004 after the Fort Hood area was added to the 31^st Congressional District.   The former Texas judge was instrumental in the congressional effort to transfer the 662-acre campus from the U.S. Army to Texas A&M.
