Carter to Attend TAMU Grand Opening and GroundbreakingFor immediate release: May 23, 2012 (KILLEEN, TX) – Congressman John Carter will realize a nearly decade-long quest brought to completion Thursday at the grand opening of Texas A&M University-Central Texas Founder’s Hall, and groundbreaking for the new university’s second building. Carter began working on the project to open a new university at the site in 2004 after the Fort Hood area was added to the 31st Congressional District. The former Texas judge was instrumental in the congressional effort to transfer the 662-acre campus from the U.S. Army to Texas A&M.
