(KILLEEN, TEXAS) – The Killeen-Fort Hood Regional Airport has been awarded a competitive grant of $4,370,331 from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, according to Congressman John Carter (R-TX31).
The grant will provide for the design and construction of a new Transportation Safety Administration (TSA) Checked Baggage Inspection System (CBIS) for the airport, using previously appropriated unexpired funds from the TSA Aviation Security program.
“I congratulate the City of Killeen City Council for a job well-done in winning this grant,” says Carter. “Killeen has proven it can compete with any city in the nation in developing a top-tier aviation facility. These improvements will help take this regional airport to the next level, and keep the jobs and investment flowing. There’s a reason that Central Texas is leading the nation in economic recovery, and this award is prime evidence of the local leadership that’s helping make it happen.”
