Carter Named Vice-Chairman of Military Construction/Veterans Affairs Subcommittee
Congressman John Carter (R-TX31) has been appointed Vice-Chairman of the key House Appropriations Subcommittee on Military Construction and Veterans Affairs today by Appropriations Chairman Hal Rogers.
“This a great honor and privilege to be selected to serve in this role, as this committee has a tremendous impact on our district, our active and retired military personnel and their families, and our veterans,” says Carter. “This subcommittee oversees the construction needs of our military installations like Fort Hood, and the funding needs of our veterans. As we face an ongoing war in the Middle East in the midst of a budgetary crisis, we have to steer this committee very carefully. I am very pleased to be able to serve as Vice Chair as we chart a course for meeting these dual challenges of defending America and providing for those who have served, while doing so with the needed fiscal responsibility to restore the financial future of our nation.”
As Vice Chairman, Carter will assist the Chairman in official Committee duties, and serve as Chair in the absence of the Chairman. Carter also serves as Chairman of the House Army Caucus, and as Secretary of the Republican Conference.
