GEORGETOWN, TEXAS) – Former Army Captain Winston T. Spencer, 91, will finally receive his earned medals from World War II in an awards ceremony Saturday in Georgetown arranged by U.S. Representative John Carter (R-TX31). Spencer will be awarded the American Campaign Medal; the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal; the World War II Victory Medal; and the Honorable Service Lapel Button WWII. Spencer entered the U.S. Army on August 4, 1942. He served with the 599th Signal Aircraft Warning Battalion in the Pacific Theater, and was discharged on September 20, 1946, but did not receive his medals prior to leaving the service.
