Carter Announces 2021 Congressional Veteran Commendation Board Members

Congressional Veteran Commendation (CVC) board members are an integral part of the CVC program. They donate countless hours in service to this program to help assist Congressman Carter in the evaluation of veteran nominees.
“The 2021 Congressional Veteran Commendation board members donate extensive time to this program and to our community. I know that these individuals have a tough job ahead of them as they help me evaluate the nominations of deserving veterans across Bell and Williamson Counties. I want to thank them for their service on the board and I look forward to all of this hard work coming to fruition at the ceremony on October 9.”
Representative Carter joins the 2021 Congressional Veteran Commendation board members for a meeting in Salado to discuss the CVC nomination process.
2021 CVC Board Members:
Denise White served in the US Coast Guard as Assistant Chief of Investigations. She is a recipient of the Congressional Volunteer Service Award and the President’s Volunteer Service Award this year. Mrs. White is also involved in many community service organizations, like Field of Honor.
Mitch Fuller served with the 56th Brigade Team of the Texas Army National Guard in the Iraq War and is now the Director of Government and Public Affairs for the Department of Texas Veterans of Foreign Wars. Fuller is a former Cedar Park City Council member. He received the Bronze Star, the Meritorious Service Medal, and many other distinctions.
Earl Williams served as Command Sergeant Major in the U.S. Army for 30 years and is the recipient of a Purple Heart from his time in Vietnam. He serves the Rotary International organization, the Military Order of the Purple Heart, and multiple veterans organizations.
Gary Young retired after 42 years of service in the banking industry. He is a community leader in Central Texas. Young has served on the board of directors of several organizations, including the Armed Services YMCA, Viva Les Arts, and United Way of Greater Fort Hood Area.
Edward LeBlanc retired as a Lieutenant Colonel from the U.S. Army Reserves after serving for 28 years. He served in the Vietnam War and Gulf War. He is a recipient of the 2019 Congressional Veteran Commendation Award.
Ed Komandosky served over 30 years in military service, including the United States Army during the Vietnam War. After his enlisted service he was offered a direct commission in the Texas Army National Guard. A Taylor, Texas native, he is the recipient of the Bronze Star and the Army Commendation Medal.
Jon Burrows served in the U.S. Air Force and U.S. Air Force Reserve where he retired as a Colonel in 2000. He was the Bell County Judge for 20 years and a recipient of the 2020 Congressional Veteran Commendation, the Meritorious Service medal, and has earned many other distinctions.
Gina Pence is the president and CEO of the Harker Heights Chamber of Commerce. She has served on the Congressional Veteran Commendation board since 2019. Pence has over ten years of volunteer community service in the community.  
Robin Hart served in the U.S. Navy and is currently the Service Officer for the Hunter Morris American Legion, Post 911. She is the Corporate Branch Manager for Austin Capital Bank SSB and serves as an Advisory Board Member for the Austin Chapter of the Travis Manion Foundation, which empowers veterans and the families of fallen heroes develop character in future generations.
