The deadline to nominate a veteran for the 2019 Congressional Veteran Commendation (CVC) is July 19. The Congressional Veteran Commendation is a nominations-based program designed to recognize Texas’ 31st Congressional District veterans for their wartime sacrifices and peacetime community involvement.

“The CVC program is a great way to honor the brave men and women across our community for their service to protect our great nation and improve our local community,” said Rep. Carter. “I encourage you to nominate a family member or friend that you see as a fine American and exceptional veteran so that our community can say thank you.  Central Texas has a proud tradition of serving in the armed forces and I have personally met with many who deserve this honor and exemplify the essence of the American spirit.”

Everyone is welcome to nominate a veteran. To qualify, nominees must currently reside in Texas’ 31st district, have served as active duty military personnel or have been reservists called to active duty, be retired or honorably discharged from a branch of the United States Armed Forces, and have continued their service to the community.

Rep. Carter represents Texas District 31, which includes Fort Hood, the largest active duty armored military installation in the free world. He serves as co-chairman of the Congressional Army Caucus and Ranking Member of the Military Construction and Veterans Affairs Subcommittee on Appropriations.
