Today, Congressman John Carter (TX-31) supported, and the House passed, the Strengthening Career and Technical Education Act. This bill completely overhauls our country’s career and technical education (CTE) system to provide even more Americans with opportunities to pursue successful careers without a traditional four-year college degree. “As I travel throughout Texas’ 31st Congressional District and visit with various Central Texas businesses, I continually hear employers say they need employees that are trained and job ready,” Representative Carter said. “In fact, just three weeks ago, I visited TMS Hydraulics in Temple, and they explained that they have several job openings just waiting to be filled, but unfortunately, are unable to find workers with the technical skills necessary to fill those positions. This legislation will help employers like TMS Hydraulics and many others that need skilled workers. By promoting CTE at the state and local level and providing funding for CTE programs, this legislation will help bridge the gap between our workforce and employers, while also giving our young people that choose not to pursue a traditional four-year degree, an opportunity for a successful well-paying career.” Congressman Carter is a strong proponent of career and technical education programs in Texas’ 31st District, you can read more about his support for CTE programs in Central Texas by visiting the links below:
