Congressman John Carter (TX-31) released the following statement after he was named the new chairman of the Military Construction and Veterans Affairs Subcommittee on Appropriations. “I’m honored to have the opportunity to serve our military, both our active duty and our nation’s great veterans, in this new capacity as chairman of the Military Construction and Veterans Affairs Subcommittee on Appropriations. This assignment is a tremendous opportunity to ensure our service members and veterans have the health care they deserve and the resources they need to defend our nation. “Texas 31 has the highest veteran population of any Congressional District in Texas and is the proud home of Fort Hood, the largest active duty military installation in the free world. For Central Texans, these men and women are more than just service members – they’re our neighbors. This places me in a unique position to understand the needs of those who so selflessly defend our country and our freedoms. I look forward to working with the members of the committee from both sides of the aisle to take care of our veterans, soldiers, and their families.” Rep. Carter represents Texas District 31, which includes Fort Hood, the largest active duty armored military installation in the free world. He serves as co-chairman of the Congressional Army Caucus, Chairman of the Military Construction and Veterans Affairs Subcommittee on Appropriations, and sits on the Commerce, Justice and Science Subccommittee on Appropriations. # # # |
