Carter Announces $33 Million for Motorpool Reconstruction on Ft. Hood

Today, Congressman John Carter (TX-31) announced $33 million in funding for motorpool reconstruction on Ft. Hood.

Today,Congressman John Carter (TX-31) announced $33 million in funding for motorpool reconstruction on Ft. Hood.

“Forty-three percent of motorpools on Ft. Hood don’t meet the minimum standards for functionality. While the American Soldier is capable of anything, they shouldn’t be forced to work with substandard resources,” Congressman Carter said. “We expect them to do their job and do it well, and in turn, Congress needs to ensure they have adequate resources to do that. The $33 million is the first piece of a lengthy process to improve functionality of Ft. Hood’s motorpools. I’m pleased to see this investment in Ft. Hood and look forward to advocating to continue this important work in the FY19 funding legislation.”

On March 27th,Representative Carter and Representative Roger Williams sent a letter to the Assistant Secretary of the Army requesting that a portion of FY18 funding be used to reconstruct the “Old Tankwash” building on Ft. Hood. Attached is the Army’s response to the request.

Rep. Carter represents Texas District 31, which includes Fort Hood, the largest active duty armored military installation in the free world. He serves as Chairman of the Homeland Security Subcommittee on Appropriations, co-chairman of the Congressional Army Caucus, is on the Subcommittee for Commerce, Justice and Science and the Defense Appropriations Subcommittee.
