This pilot program will allow soldiers to participate in additional trade skill credentialing programs in their final 180 days in the Army, preparing them for a rewarding civilian career following their military service. Carter released the following statement expressing strong support of the pilot program: “One of the most important things we can offer the brave men and women who serve our country in uniform is a chance to get the training and education they will need to have a successful career once they leave military service. For some, this means a college education, but for others, vocational training and credentialing is the way to ensure they can transition directly from the military to a good job. I am strongly supportive of this Army pilot program which makes it easier for soldiers to get the training and credentials necessary for this transition, and I look forward to supporting this program as it expands. An investment in our soldiers and veterans is an investment in what makes our country great.” Rep. Carter represents Texas District 31, which includes Fort Hood, the largest active duty armored military installation in the free world. He serves as Chairman of the Homeland Security Subcommittee on Appropriations, co-chairman of the Congressional Army Caucus, is on the Subcommittee for Commerce, Justice and Science and the Defense Appropriations Subcommittee. ### |
