The Department of Veterans Affairs has awarded a grant of $2 million in improvements to the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen, Texas. Attached is the grant announcement letter provided by the Acting Secretary of the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. Rep. John R. Carter (TX-31) released the following statement: “The Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery provides a reverent final resting place for Central Texans who have faithfully devoted their lives to defending our freedoms. These important improvements to the Veterans Cemetery will cover over 10 acres, and serve 150,000 veterans who have called Central Texas home. As we continue to humbly cherish and develop this special site, may we learn from the heroism, integrity, and wisdom of those who have come before us. Our nation is forever thankful to all who faithfully answered the call to serve.” Rep. Carter represents Texas District 31, which includes Fort Hood, the largest active duty armored military installation in the free world. He serves as Chairman of the Homeland Security Subcommittee on Appropriations, co-chairman of the Congressional Army Caucus, is on the Subcommittee for Commerce, Justice and Science and the Defense Appropriations Subcommittee. ### |
