Carter Applauds Withdraw from Paris Climate Accord

Today, Rep. John R. Carter (R-TX-31) released the following statement on President Trump’s decision to withdraw from the Paris climate deal:

“I applaud President Trump’s decision to withdraw the United States from the Paris Accord. The multinational agreement entered into by the Obama Administration creates a climate slush fund for the United Nations and is detrimental to our economy, to our industrial and manufacturing jobs, and to consumers as electricity prices would skyrocket in the coming years. At the same time, this agreement does nothing to improve our climate. The United States is already a leader in reducing CO2 emissions, and producing clean energy. While we will continue to pursue energy policies that are reasonable and responsible while reducing our carbon footprint, the Paris Accord is not the solution to global climate challenges.”

Rep. Carter represents Texas District 31, which includes Fort Hood, the largest active duty armored military installation in the free world. He serves as Chairman of the Homeland Security Subcommittee on Appropriations, co-chairman of the Congressional Army Caucus, is on the Subcommittee for Commerce, Justice and Science and the Defense Appropriations Subcommittee.
