Statement by Rep. John Carter Honoring Veterans Day

Rep. John R. Carter (R-TX-31) released the following statement in recognition of Veteran's Day on November 11.

Today, Rep. John R. Carter (R-TX-31) released the following statement in recognition of Veteran’s Day on November 11.

“As we pause on November 11 to honor our Veteran’s, I believe every day we should honor and thank our Veterans. In Central Texas we have a treasure that is not hard to see, but can be easily overlooked.  This treasure surrounds us; we interact with it every day, sometimes unknowingly. This treasure represents the very best of our community, of Texas, and what it means to be an American. This treasure is our Veteran community.”

“On this Veterans Day, I encourage you to do a little more than just thank a veteran. This year we should all take a moment to hear their stories, listen to their pain and joy, and if they are willing, how they felt or what they thought during their service.”

“Ericka and I, as well as many of my friends and neighbors throughout our community, never forget our Veterans, what they have sacrificed, and their bravery and commitment to our great Nation. To our Veterans, thank you for your service to defend and protect our freedoms. God Bless you all.”

Rep. Carter represents Texas District 31, which includes Fort Hood, the largest active duty armored military installation in the free world. He serves as Chairman of the Homeland Security Subcommittee on Appropriations, co-chairman of the House Army Caucus, is on the Subcommittee for Commerce, Justice and Science and the Defense Appropriations Subcommittee.
