Today, Rep. John Carter (R-TX-31) voted to rein in an out of control Environmental Protection Agency, and put jobs and the economy above unreasonable, over regulation. The vote was in support of the Interior, Environment and Related Agencies Appropriations Bill of 2016 that passed out of the House Appropriations Committee, today. “I strongly support this legislation that will halt job-crushing bureaucratic red tape and rein in over regulation at federal agencies, specifically the EPA,” said Rep. Carter. “Texas is fortunate to have a strong economy, but in order to keep our economy growing, and increase job creation, we must put a stop to unreasonable regulations that stymie growth, hurt businesses and damage our economy.” The Interior, Environment and Related Agencies Appropriations Bill of 2016 prohibits the EPA from implementing new greenhouse gas regulations for new and existing power plants; prohibits the EPA from making changes to the definition of “navigable waters” under the Clean Water Act; prevents the EPA from regulating the lead content of ammunition and fishing tackle; protects and strengthens our nation’s hunting, shooting, and fishing heritage on public lands; and prevents the EPA from implementing any new greenhouse gas regulations related to stationary sources, including power plants, petroleum refineries, petrochemical plants, food processing plants, and other heavy industrial sources. The bill still faces a vote of the full House before it is sent for consideration in the Senate. |
