Congressman Carter presents Congressional Awards to Williamson County students (ROUND ROCK, T.X.-) Congressman John R. Carter (R-TX31) today presented two Williamson County high school students, Faith Nemec and Brandon Williams, with Congressional Awards. The Congressional Award is a non-partisan award given by the United States Congress to young people, 14 to 23 years of age, for achievements in the following areas: Faith Nemec, a student from Taylor, Texas was a Silver Medalist. Nemec volunteered more than 200 hours of service by partnering with various organizations in her community. She make blankets for unwed mothers, organized First Aid scenarios, ran summer camps, participated in 10 different sports, planned a two-night camping trip for Venture Crew and was in charge of running First Aid scenarios to challenge area boy scouts. Brandon Williams, a student at Cedar Ridge High School in Round Rock, Texas was a Bronze Medalist. Williams volunteered more than 100 hours through the Boy Scouts of America as well as other area organizations. He volunteered at the Round Rock Serving Center and The Backpack Coalition, worked part-time as a soccer referee, improved his running times and traveled to Philmont Scout Ranch in Cimarron, New Mexico for 10 days as a Crew Leader. “I am very proud of these young people for their dedication to District 31 and their peers by getting involved in their community. The Congressional Award takes dedication and commitment. Both Faith and Brandon exemplify the moral fortitude it takes to be true leaders,” said Congressman John Carter. Rep.
