Yesterday, Representative John Carter (R-TX-31) introduced H.R. 2871, the Resist Executive Amnesty on Defense Installations (READI) Act, in the House. If enacted, the READI Act will completely prohibit the housing of illegal immigrants on any military installation within the United States. In fiscal year 2017, Representative Carter included language in the National Defense Authorization Act that prevents the housing of illegal aliens on military installations unless the Department of Defense certifies to Congress that their presence will not impact the readiness of the service members stationed there. (Washington, DC)- Yesterday, Representative John Carter (TX-31) introduced the Military Installation Non-Adult Offender Reform (MINOR) Act, along with Representatives Roger Williams (R-TX-25) and Henry Cuellar (D-TX-28). The MINOR Act requires the Department of Defense to enter into agreements with the head prosecutor of each state.
