Carter Secures $48.7 million for Fort Hood, $60 million for Privatized Housing Oversight in FY21 Appropriations Bill

Representative John Carter (TX-31) today announced $48.7 million for Fort Hood in the fiscal year 2021 Military Construction and Veterans Affairs Subcommittee on Appropriations bill. The funding includes $32.7 million for a fuel facilities project and $16 million to complete battalion headquarters. The legislation also includes $60 million, as part of a $200 million investment, for privatized housing oversight and support.

Representative Carter, Bipartisan Lawmakers Introduce MINOR Act

(Washington, DC)- Yesterday, Representative John Carter (TX-31) introduced the Military Installation Non-Adult Offender Reform (MINOR) Act, along with Representatives Roger Williams (R-TX-25) and Henry Cuellar (D-TX-28). The MINOR Act requires the Department of Defense to enter into agreements with the head prosecutor of each state. These agreements will give jurisdiction of juvenile-on-juvenile crimes that happen on military installations to civilian authorities.

As the top republican on the Military Construction and Veterans Affairs Appropriations subcommittee, Representative Carter included language in the FY19 NDAA bill and appropriations bill to require the IG to investigate this issue across the Department of Defense.

Representative John Carter (TX-31) today announced a federal grant worth $1,520,000 for the Robert Gray Army Airfield in Killeen, Texas. The grant was originally funded by Representative Carter’s Appropriations Committee and is being awarded through the Airport Improvement Program.
