Carter Statement on Infrastructure

(Washington, DC) – Representative John Carter (TX-31) released the following statement after voting against H.R.3684, the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act.

“Central Texas is one of the fastest growing areas in the country and I was looking forward to working with my colleagues from both sides of aisle to produce a bipartisan infrastructure bill that benefits our nation. Instead, Democrats produced a misguided and rushed bill that ignores the needs of the American people. In addition to being an irresponsible use of American tax dollars, this bill will add approximately $400 billion to the national debt, with less than 25% of the total funding allocated to actual infrastructure. Until my Democrat colleagues are willing to reach across the aisle and produce an infrastructure bill that meets the needs of the American people, I cannot support it and will continue to fight for what is best for Texas.”
